Running a local full node

Good Evening!

I’m just starting to learn about ethereum and wanted to run a local full node for fun. I just have a few questions.

  1. If running a full node with Geth default settings, do I need a 2TB SSD to store the database? From what I’m reading it just hit over 1TB in size. Just wanted to confirm this is accurate.

  2. When eth moves to POS, will full nodes still be required, or will only staked validator nodes be required?

  3. What is the difference between geth and openethereum and why is the openethereum database size so much smaller?

Thank you!
