Safe Hodling

This was a dark and a little depressing read. But an important one to consider and keep in mind as a bitcoiner. A couple take aways:

• The thieves weren’t that successful. And they got easily caught after it was said and done. Maybe this will deter future attempts by these idiots?

• You can geographically seperate your private keys. Use self defense tactics. And keep your stash on the down low both in real life and through online privacy. But in the end one of these events could happen. There is no foolproof way to prevent it…. But what other things do you do to help prevent this?

• I personally like living away from where the crazy people are. Again I know anything is possible but choosing your home wisely can help.

What do you all think of storing keys/pass phrases at a bank in a lockbox? I know that there is the risk of the feds confiscating it. I’d keep it in a tamper proof bag just to know if someone did look at the key or stole it. I think it’s a reasonable strategy. Keeping private keys at private homes could invite your kidnappers to get loved ones and friends involved.
