This post is meant to bait out the self-custody warriors. Disclaimer: I use cold storage and advocate for self-custody.

Just saw a celebratory post in this sub, OP was happy to have purchased their first sats (0.002 BTC). Top voted commented was telling the OP: “self custody, cold storage, steel plated seed phrase, never tell anyone, never take pics”… and it made me laugh.

I laugh because I get it, like yeah these are things a newbie should know. But like.. cmon, the guy (person) has like $100 bucks worth of BTC. It’s like someone says they’re starting a YouTube channel, and we tell them “Sony A7, studio lighting set, blue yeti mic, microphone arm.. good luck”

I can’t be alone in thinking that as a community, sometimes we over-do it.
