Hi all, given what's happened recently with Ledger and the vulnerabilities it appears to have, what are the best alternative options for Self custody of our Crypto assets right now?
I purchased my Ledger with complete confidence in it being failsafe and the only person having access to my keys being myself. Other people in the sub have been pushing Trezor, however its entirely possible 2, 6 or 12 months down the line, the same problem could come to light and we are again needing to pay a premium for another way to store our assets 'securely'.
Kraken has shared publicly what they believe to be big vulnerabilities in Trezor's hardware Link. Even in light of this people have been really vocal about moving to Trezor having previously owned a Ledger.
I'm not particularly well versed with the world of crypto storage, but now I'm super confused with where I go next with this. I see both Ledger and Trezor as risks, however, would i be correct in assuming that both of these products are still safer to use than an exchange, or do these vulnerabilities change this?
As things with Ledger rumble on the more nervous I become with this as often with this type of negative exposure, things can quickly start to unravel, so I'm really keen to move my crypto somewhere i can just leave it without the worry of losing it.
Id be keen to get peoples thoughts and plans longer term for dealing with this.
