Cointelegraph is one of the biggest news sites, with a focus on crypto stories. It is a very popular source of crypto stories for most people in the crypto space. So, apparently, you can collect Cointelegraph's news articles as an NFT. You basically mint the article, pay a fee and transaction costs to own it as a digital collectible. However, you don't really get to own the rights to the article. The copyright to the article still belongs to the publisher.
So, I'm honestly curious to find out why anyone would pay their crypto to collect one of these articles. It's not like you get to "own" the article. An excerpt from their FAQ says "In simple words you are owning an official collectible, not an article." I really don't understand why anyone would wanna spend money to mint and collect such an item. I'd appreciate to hear the perspective of someone who has collected such NFTs before.
Well, I understand the collecting of monkey JPEGs and other forms of digital art; for the art and price speculation. Unfortunately, I cannot understand why anyone would collect a news story.
