So last night I received a text message from what looked like the official Binance number (as I've received official texts from that number before) with a warning stating that a withdrawal was requested and a link to cancel it. Immediately I opened my binance wallet; most of my coins were somehow converted to BTC (I didn't have any BTC at the time). I was tired and distracted so of course I started to panic and did the one thing you are never supposed to do; open the link from the text message and fill in the authentication code. Before I knew what was happening my funds of around $1300 had been withdrawn to some random address. Needless to say I am an idiot for even opening that link, as in hindsight it was a very obvious fishing attack (see image below). I am still very much a casual investor and I've never been scammed like this before so I don't really have much of a clue at what should be my best course action. The Binance support page wasn't really helpful, although I don't think they can do much since the withdrawal already processed, and I'm fully expecting that getting my funds back is going to be very difficult, if not impossible. So Reddit, what do you suggest I do? Am I screwed, or is there some glimmer of hope? [link] [comments] |
