Apologies if this question has been answered many times, but I can’t seem to find anything really addressing it so here goes. Hopefully my question makes sense ????
I was thinking about soft staking via an exchange. But having looked into it, the problem seems to be that after you unstake, you are left with a bunch of ETH2. So if I wanted to sell, I would have to trade them back for ETH. But the ETH2/ETH market is pitifully thin, which makes the whole thing impractical. The slippage I would get trading the ETH2 back into ETH would probably be more than the staking rewards.
So my question is this. Is there going to be a time when it will be possible to stake and subsequently unstake without then having to trade the unstaked tokens back into ETH?
Ie basically what I would like to be able to do is to be able to stake my ETH and then unstake them directly back into ETH rather than having to worry that I will then be stuck with a bunch of tokens that are going to take me a year to liquidate because of the absence of any sensible market.
(It’s possible that this is only an issue with soft staking on an exchange. I just don’t have enough understanding of the process to know….)
