Sparrow wallet coinjoin experience.

This isn’t a complaint. I just want to share my experience as a noob using the coinjoin feature in Sparrow wallet.

My Bitcoin journey has been slow but enjoyable. I’ve recently got up and running with a Citadel node which was amazingly simple to get up and running. Even linking up Blue wallet and Sparrow wallet to my Citadel node hasn’t been too bad either. Although I’m not sure how stable my Sparrow wallet connection over Tor has been.

This is really where my inexperience has been challenged most. My first coinjoin mix went through without any issue. My consecutive mixes there after however have not been so speedy or reliable. It’s taken me several days to make some progress in this area. As I didn’t anticipate any issues after the first mix went so smoothly. I had been following the BTC sessions tutorial which was easy enough to follow. However the consecutive mixes to a cold wallet in the tutorial appeared to happen very quickly. This wasn’t my experience unfortunately.

I seemed to have an error in the log relating to Tor proxy control port 9051. I still haven’t exactly resolved this but have used the below instructions to troubleshoot. Hopefully it helps others:

I still have an error and port 9051 doesn’t appear to be working for me.

But since I plugged an Ethernet cable into my Linux laptop running Sparrow wallet, the connection to my node seems to be more stable and the consecutive mixes are going through although very slowly.

This is my main point. The speed of the coinjoin is not the issue so much. It’s just no tutorial has set reasonable expectations for how long the subsequent coinjoins would take after the first. If I had known I wouldn’t have been as concerned. So hopefully my account provides some reassurance to other noobs and sets reasonable expectations. It’s taken most of a day for 7 coinjoins after the 1st initial coinjoin.
