Starknet L2 upgraded their contracts today - anyone who didn't update their wallets lost all of their money

And people are not happy.

StarkWare just zero'd all user balances on old wallets that didn't upgrade to latest contracts - equivalent of having the money in your bank account disappear if you don't get the latest software package

Argent X wallet statement:

You are trying to access a wallet on an old contract. As of August 21st, all the accounts that were not updated to the latest contracts are deprecated and can no longer be used.

Over the last year, we have communicated about the need to upgrade your wallet, and that any wallet which did not upgrade by this date, would be lost. Starknet is a new, rapidly developing network, which means it had to go through a number of breaking changes in order to be ready for full launch. We communicated this with a permanent banner within the wallet, and several posts across our social channels (https://twitter.com/argentHQ/status/1688565726620033024). This is a network-specific change, not one that we control, unfortunately. According to StarkWare, the wallets that did not upgrade in time will lose their assets.

We suggest joining their Discord for the latest updates. Starknet, as a young network, is often updating, so it’s important that you continue to monitor our communications within the wallet, and across our social channels.

Stunning to me that Starknet just full rugged all non-upgraded wallets and said “you should have paid attention!” Over $500k has been effectively burned. Expecting users to follow all social media posts and upgrade wallets or their funds will be lost is nuts.
