Howdy everyone - Ilija from Enjin here.
As some of you might be aware, we've been working really hard—ever since 2017—to bring blockchain to game developers. We've been in the gaming industry since 2009, and focused on virtual items from our earliest days. But this post is not about us, per say; it's about an important door for mainstream adoption being closed shut for the NFT industry as a whole.
Last week, Steam banned NFTs, with one of Enjin-powered games, Age of Rust, being in the middle of the whole story.
My colleague Oscar wrote this article - https://enjin.io/blog/why-steam-should-not-ban-nft-games - on the topic over the weekend. It would mean a lot if you could read it, especially if you have a negative opinion about NFTs—they are more than simple JPGs.
Look, personally... I like Steam. It's easy to use, I've had it for 12 years, it completely revolutionized the way games are distributed. (I have probably 50ish games that I haven't touched, but that's another story - you know how it is, work tends to get in the way).
That said, I'd really like to be able to play Age of Rust, and other NFT games, via Steam—so I'm really hoping they change their mind and embrace the future, not impede it.
