Bitcoin lost $4k in a matter of minutes because some car company director (who outside of America aren't really a big thing) tweeted they won't be accepting payments in bitcoin due to energy concerns...
So be it, an obvious ploy to lower the cost before buying, but the fact that one single tweet can do this and send the currency crashing shows just how misunderstood and immature the market really is. And we're still not through with Asian markets responding to it which the tweet seems perfectly timed to affect.
These are crazy times and I was kinda hoping the market wouldn't panic because of something as trivial as this.
EDIT: Once the 00:00 UTC kicked in, it seemed to be about 17% down to 46k! So, most of that trade would have been bots controlled by UTC (a standard computer time)
