The Deal with Polkadot

There used to be a good bit of support and hype behind DOT in the very early days and the price saw great gains. But DOT is massively drowned out by other more exciting tokens. I think that's the exact reason why DOT is likely to be a massive success. The whole Polkadot project, basically a truly interconnected crypto ecosystem, so ambitious that there isn't really no other coin like it. And Polkadot don't seem interested in short term gains or hype. They are aiming for the very long term, build a very strong reliable foundation for the platform. To be fair also, their hands are a bit tied even if they wanted to get rich quick, not that I am saying they are, but because they are building the foundation they are dependent on the success of the apps that run in their ecosystem. I actually think this is a great incentive for blockchain builders to work with dapps that run on top for mutual benefit. It was actually a major complaint several months ago by investors that their DOT tokens "didn't do anything for them". Which likely just mean no project hype and no team Twitter hype meant limited returns.

Surprisingly, as much as Polkadot doesn't seem very exciting and supposedly doesn't have much lucrative or get-rich-quick opportunities I've seen Kusama gives around 18% APY staking rewards on Kraken and DOT around 9-12% APY I think and I was informed by staff that staking/unstaking is near-instant. These rewards are even higher than on Binance. That probably means directly staking yourself gives even more lucrative returns, with the loss of instant unstaking however. That's(Kusama anyway) almost as high as the "ponzinomics" of Terra with Anchor and Celsius. I don't know how I feel about those rewards we'll see how thing turn out eventually....as usual.

Edit: Yes. Cosmos is there but not quite as deep as Polkadot. Cosmos can do asset transfers between chains but Polk aims to be able to call a smart contract on one chain from a contract on another chain.

Totally different in complexity and function.
