The E-Point: A Bitcoin Precursor?

A while back, I stumbled upon a pre-Bitcoin e-currency called ePoint. The project was developed by a group of Hungarian cryptologists and updated on SourceForge (development stopped in early 2008).

The site advertises an anonymous, peer-to-peer, decentralized, e-currency, free-of-charge and open source. However, perhaps most interesting is the ePoint logo.

I noticed the logo reminded me of the Bitcoin logo, which prompted me to look into its history.

While the new logo looks quite different from the ePoint logo, the old version of the Bitcoin logo looks quite similar. This prompted me to look at the original Bitcoin favicon (found in the 0.1 Sourceforge download).

Some things struck me as very similar to the ePoint favicon:

1.) The edge of both logos is practically identical

In fact, both edges are 16 pixels tall, and the morphology and spacings of both top and bottom arms are the same. See: https://ibb.co/6yf5W1S

2.) Also interesting, flipping the left side of the 'E', it looks pretty similar to the original bitcoin B, with the bottom bit shifted over (not as confident about this however)
