The Future of Blockchain/Web3/DLT?

Presumably, 2022 was not a good year for Blockchain / Web 3 / DLT (you name it). I put all three wordings in the same bucket to draw the bigger picture.

This year was full of Scams (3AC, Terra Luna, Celsius, FTX...). Unfortunately, this is what non-crypto-people think of first when I talk with them regarding blockchain-related topics (in my case, mostly technically wise, and no trading stuff as I am a developer and not a trader).

We have seen so many things that are perfect for putting water on the critics' mills.

2022 was a year when every "I told you so" guy had at least one moment in their life when they were right for once.

What do you guys think of the future of Blockchain nowadays with the current situation in mind:

• Regulators don't like it
• Governments are afraid of it
• The "normal people" don't like it (and yet don't understand it)
• Many of the above think only of "Scam! Scam! Scam!" or call it a Ponzi scheme
• Instead lot's of "You still don't have a valid use case"-arguments
• "Web3 solves only those problems that it has created itself."

While leaving the everyday people behind, technically, we are already some decades ahead in discussing whether to use zk-SNARK or zk-STARK because it is called to be quantum-resistant.

On the other side, Average Joe is not even capable of dealing with a private key carefully to prevent any loss of funds. Jane and Joe prefer having a centralized bank where they can expect help anytime. We crypto people know what happened in 2008, but a very similar thing happened in crypto this year.

What are your thoughts? What can we expect to happen in 2023? What is your hope? What are you afraid of?
