The masses aren't ready to custody their own assets. This is the main thing holding crypto back, and they're working to make sure it doesn't get easier.

As I work through what will happen if the banking system collapses, I always run into the issue of custody. The thought of that to the average person, even when they have unlimited time to research it, isn't something they're willing to do. Not to mention the government and fed in general is, and will continue to work harder to make sure there are not viable options for custody. And the ones there are, are being attacked and having their legitimacy undermined at every turn

Until this changes I'm not sure crypto can break out of being a niche.
