I’m 21 and I’ve been in crypto for a little under a year now and in that time I’ve made decisions I’ve been really happy with, resulting in small gains. These decisions are buying Ethereum and Algorand. But today my dog had to be rushed to emergency because she couldn’t walk and we found out she is fully paralysed from the middle down. Being a Dachshund, this happened to about 25% of them I’m told. Since I’m not close to my family I’m now faced with the choice to either put her down or pay $12,000 for a surgery that isn’t guaranteed to work. I’ve got the money but it’s all invested in Crypto and this is where I realise the need of an emergency fund. This is a horrible situation and I would hate myself if I didn’t pay for the surgery as she means so much to me. The fact that we’ve seen such huge losses lately, makes this situation even more bitter. Just wanted to share my story and tell you guys that although you may think you can get away with not having an emergency fund, please get one as it will prevent situations like this.
EDIT: I am lowkey disgusted about how half the comments are about me fishing for money. If I wanted money I would of posted the Go-Fund me page lol. This was truly and honestly an attempt to process the situation and lend some advice along the way where I messed up. I posted it in Algo and here because I mention them both in the post.
