There is a repository of known "physical Bitcoin attacks". That repository can be found here and was made by a reddit user under the alias of Statoshi. The repository has 126 known physical Bitcoin attacks since 2014. Below, you find some analysis on this data. I excluded the the 2014 data because Statoshi only started later in the year and excluded the 2023 data because the year has just started.

(1) Total number of registered attacks per year

• The amount of attacks per year generally increases over time. Does this makes sense as Bitcoin has increased in popularity and price?
• This is basically the crypto chart? Bull run into 2017 2018 --> dip --> bull run into 2020 2021 --> dip.

• United States #1!
• United Kingdom #2
• United Arab Emirates (all Dubai) a surprising #3?

(3) Month in which the attacks are reported

• Winter is the worst! Hide your crypto in the winter.
• The summer is the best. Still hide your crypto in the summer though.
• Why is there such a seasonality effect?
