This may be stupid, but here are 3 small things that worry me about mass adoption that, I feel, could REALLY hinder it.

So I’ve been DCAing BTC for a long time now. I don’t own a HUGE amount; but I do have excessively more than the average HODL’er. I believe in BTC and have read the standards to better educate myself (white paper, The Bitcoin Standard, The Internet of Money ….) and try to learn more each day. These 3 concerns may be stupid, but here they are. I hope someone can quiet some of my worry.

1. If you look at most crypto exchanges, the majority of people are buying bitcoin and holding it. To an alarming amount…. I’m one of them. This is the mantra we have pushed upon others and reinforced with ourselves for years now. HODL. Diamond hands. We push it so hard that I feel most people who buy their first Satoshi, has in their mind just to hold onto it. If we are all holding, at least the majority of us, how can this become globally excepted and universally utilized ? How can there be a free exchange if over 90% of the people are thinking, long-term?

2. The units of measurement needs to change and evolve as Bitcoin becomes ubiquitous. Bitcoin isn’t there yet. It’s not universally accepted. The price is extremely volatile. No one looks at bag of carrots and says that’s a good deal for .0000129 bitcoin. We need to switch to Satoshi’s or a more easily understandable way of measuring value/price in order to be widely excepted by the general public. We’ve been associating monetary value to the left of the decimal point for decades now. I think the general public will have an extremely hard time accepting/understanding this change.

3. The speed to verify transactions need to change. This is where I will openly say, I’m not an expert. But when I transfer bitcoin from an exchange to one of my wallets, it’s far from instant. If we’re going to widely accept this for paying for every day items eventually, it needs to be lightning fast. Like I said, I’m not an expert, so is this even possible? Is this already the overall plan?
