ICYMI: El Salvador is the first country to adopt Bitcoin as a national currency. It all started with a tiny surf town called El Zonte that rebranded itself "Bitcoin Beach," installed a Bitcoin ATM, and created a way for locals to do everything from buy pupusas to pay their utility bills with Bitcoin. The system does have some problems and El Salvador's nationwide adoption has many skeptics. We dug into how this all began, how it's working, and who stands to profit.
