*Tin foil hat time* Gov assault on defi is here!

The United States SEC has been on a cryptowide haphazard crusade of late as just about everyone in this space knows. But less obvious unless you are a degen and/or paying close attention is a seeming global government assault on defi.

While it's entirely possible that the following is coincidence or at least unrelated/uncoordinated there have been warnings for years from various people within the cryptosphere that governments would come at defi full force, and it looks like that time is beginning.

Consider the massive attacks on cornerstone defi protocols of late. Multichain bridge's head honcho was arrested by Chinese authorities and within a short time a massive exploit was carried out demolishing defi hub Fantom among various protocols on many other L1 chains. Consider this latest Curve exploit where there is chatter that the resources required to pull it off imply a state actor (Lazarus? CIA? CCP?) Is behind it, and how important CRV is to the entire Ethereum/EVM defi ecosystem thanks to money Legos.

Consider that the latest US defense spending bill has a section requiring the Government to address non KYC stablecoins (the largest stables by market cap Tether and USDC are examples of non kyc srables) being traded on CEXes. Consider that US exchanges already require KYC and it becomes apparent that this is meant to force Circle and Tether to start KYC or be blacklisted by the US.

A few government officials in various jurisdictions are talking about ending self custody even as entities like Blackrock and Citadel are building centralized custodial crypto infrastructure.

Taken as a wholeit sure looks like there is an attempt to demolish any vestiges of decentralization and push crypto towards tradfi custodianship. Be careful out there, if indeed governments are looking to control/co opt defi, a lot more damage will be incoming.
