Not many people know this, but sources say that Dmitry Buterin, the father of Vitalik Buterin, introduced him to bitcoin. He was the one who sparked Vitalik’s interest in crypto, which eventually led to the birth of Ethereum, which is today’s most-used blockchain.
Dmitry was a successful software engineer who worked his way to the top. He always refrains from making media appearances as Vitalik’s dad and is popularly referred to as Dima. He currently runs an educational company, “BlockGeeks,” that advises early-stage crypto startups.
Dima believes that the recent Ukraine outbreak will cause a big steer in the traditional ecosystem and shift users into adopting cryptocurrencies. He also believes that Web 3.0 is something to look out for, which will shortly enter the era of mass adoption.
I also read a comment where he said most creative decentralized projects are designed by techies who are more focused on technology than user experience. He was very keen on advising developers to make their products easier to use with a better user experience. Dima also said it's important to build projects that are not prone to censorship and spam.
As we move forward, we are slowly witnessing many crypto projects that address this very problem and are building products to curb all these setbacks.
One of the core principles behind building bitcoin was to develop a network that is almost impossible to censor. Bitcoin started as the ambassador of censorship resistance; soon after, many projects followed the same principle but failed miserably and got attacked multiple times.
As we moved forward, multiple blockchain networks came into existence with immutable infrastructure advancements that used distributed ledgers to be truly censorship-resistant. But most of them had one common issue, which was scalability.
Recently, projects like File Coin, Point Network, and many similar projects started working on an alternative to IPFS storage solutions and started using multiple decentralized storage solutions to store their data, creating a layer of decentralized storage that had no scalability issues.
After reading Dima's comments, I also feel that crypto has a major play in eradicating censorship to make cryptocurrencies adoptable on a mass level. With solutions like Arweave in place, we finally see some advancement in that aspect.
