Toxicity in the Space

I've been meaning to make a post about this for a while but I've finally reached my breaking point after browsing the sub today.

I'm not sure how many of yall need to hear this but more than one project can succeed. Yall don't need to feel like only your project will be successful and trying to put down or shit on other projects. At best all you do is get people to double down on their own project and at worst you get them turned away from projects you support.

Likewise, your project probably isn't the best and even if it is, there's definitely ways it could improve. Hell I know the projects I follow have a lot of unresolved issues. Keep your ears to the ground, be involved in discussions about other projects, and try to figure out what they do better. We are early enough along that when the space settles down it won't look anything like it does now. Stop focusing on championing projects and focus on championing technology. You should be glad to see other projects adopting tech you support. Be understanding, empathetic, and willing to help where you can when projects in the space struggle.

We are all in this space together and all that actually matters in the end is that the tech succeeds. If every one of the projects I support dies in the next 5 years but the tech I support is adopted, I'll be ecstatic. I'm here to build on the tech. I want it to be usable and as good as it can be. I really couldn't care less what name or logo it wears.

TLDR: For the love of God, stop trying to dunk on other projects when things take longer or don't go as planned. All you are doing is pissing people off, wasting everyone's time, and making projects you support look bad. Put that energy into learning about other projects and improving your project instead.
