Trying to test LN, turning into a small, time consuming failure

I wanted to test the LN to develop my knowledge of the tech, but haven't successfully sent any satoshis with it yet.

I wanted to do this on desktop. With Electrum I could fund a new wallet, open a channel, but couldn't pay an invoice.

Then I moved the funds to Zap as I thought the issue was with the software.

I made a new wallet, 24 word mnemonic, was able to fund the wallet, and the UI shows this. But Zap can't open a channel, it has a 'bandwidth exhausted' error message. Which seems to be some software bug where it can't connect to the internet. It can't open a channel, and additionally, the transaction I'm trying to send to recover my funds also won't send to the internet.

So I have a small amount of funds (funds I was willing to lose as part of the LN experiment) which I'm trying to recover.

I've tried Electrum (new wallet, recovery, BIP39), and Coinomi (both desktop), and they both say the 24 words fail the checksum. I know it's not best practice, but I did copy-paste the original 24 words from Zap because I was just experimenting. All 24 words I have recorded are in the BIP39 list, so they aren't mistyped.

I also have the separate passwords that Electrum and Zap prompted to make when making wallets (these are just passwords for the respective softwares, right? They aren't the 25th word passphrase?).

At this point I just want to recover the funds and call it a day.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Or, alternatively, know what is happening with Zap causing it to lose connection to the internet? I can recover funds this way also, if I can get it back online.

Edit:I can enter the 24 word seed phrase in the Zap client and successfully 'recover' it there. And it downloads information from the blockchain to know that it has the full balance. But I can't transmit a transaction out of that client to move the funds to a working wallet. And I can't enter the 24 word seed phrase in electrum to recover the funds in a working wallet.

edit2: does anyone know what derivation path Zap uses? Or know how to figure it out? That's the only thing I can consider is causing non-Zap wallets to fail to restore from the 24 word nmemonic.

edit3: derivation path seems to be confirmed to be different between electrum and Zap: https://github.com/LN-Zap/zap-desktop/issues/3257 - bit of an issue if wallets all have unique ways of generating seeds, then if a project gets abonded and becomes buggy - funds are stuck :/
