If your BTC is stored on a hardware wallet that has a seed and a passphrase you have created then how do you recover it if that hardware wallet company goes out of business? If it was just the seed alone and no passphrase then you could recover it on any software wallet or a new different hardware wallet. But most wallets dont have passphrase capabilities and even if they did their passphrase software could be different and not provide you access to your original wallet.
