Want to replace your full time job with MOONs? Here’s some math!

Stuck in a deadass job, with no new opportunities in sight? Hate your boss? Hate putting in real work? Hate your colleagues? Hate getting out of bed? Hate real people (as opposed to your badass reddit homies)? If you answered yes to at least 3 of these - chances are working really isn’t your thing!

But worry not my friends - here’s some math to make you feel better about spending your days on Reddit.

Disclaimer: doing this in practice is probably a pretty stupid idea. Wouldn’t recommend, but they say knowledge is power!

So - the current price of moons is about 0.3$. At this price - replacing your full time job with raking in moons on the sub would be pretty hard work. But not impossible!

With the average hourly wage in the States being about 15$ - you will on average rake in about 30k a year.

1 upvote gives you between .2 and .5 moons depending on the distribution rounds (thanks u/INKEDsage for the stats). So let’s say on average, 1 upvote will reward you with 0.35 MOONs. With a current price of 0.3$/moon, 1 upvote is then worth about 10 cents (0.1$).

So, considering your average yearly wage flipping cheeseburgers of 30k - and dividing it by 0.3$ (the price of 1 moon), it means you would need about 100.000 moons per year to successfully replace your job! This means:

About 8333 moons/month About 274 moons/day About 11.5 moons/hour

If 1 upvote gives you on average 0.35 moons - you would need around 33 upvotes per hour to make this work. Let’s say you still need to sleep for at least 5 hours a day to be fresh enough to shitpost coherently, you would need around 41.5 upvotes per hour during the other 19 hours of your awake day!

Considering the max cap of moons per user per distribution round is 15k - this is perfectly doable!
