With the recent ledger controversy, Metamask FUD, an exchange collapsing ever other day and SEC taking aim at the ones still standing, the discussion of how best to store your crypto has been a real hot topic lately.
Personally I don't believe there is any one real correct answer, every solution comes with it's own set of pros and cons, and this isn't really specifically what I want to talk about today. Hot or cold wallet, centralised exchange or defi, that decision is yours alone to make and I'm not about to judge you for whatever one you made.
It did however bring another question to mind for me which I believe also warrants serious discussion - What, if any, measures have you taken to make your crypto accessible to your loved ones in the event of your untimely demise?
It's an uncomfortable topic, but ultimately we all need to face the fact that at some point we're going to die, and if you were to go tomorrow, would your loved ones know where your crypto is stored and how to retrieve it? Do they understand the concept of a seed phrase? Do they even know you own crypto?
Or is your situation like my own, with your holdings scattered throughout several hot wallets and exchanges, locked behind fingerprint indentification and various passwords only I know?
My portfolio is rapidly growing and I'd hate to think of all that money just being lost forever at a time my family would need it most, so I'd absolutely love to hear what actions some of you have taken to prevent this scenario from occuring.
