What do MOONS even do?

Whilst trying to be careful to not insult this sub's favourite thing, what do moons even do? Like what is the end goal?

A lot of this sub is critical of coins and tokens that provide no utility potential like ETH and ADA, so are moons just the equivalent of another form of Internet points like upvotes and likes?

I'm aware that you get more for voting which i guess is a utility in that it encourages the participation in polls.

Anyway, feel free to fill me in; I'm sure I'm missing something!

Also, just another plug for getting rid of this silly 500 character count or at least install a counter on the app so we know when to stop. God forbid people are encouraged to waffle anymore than they already do ????
