What is a “Crypto Community” to you?

Recently I have been reading a lot of posts on various Reddit subs, and tweets about how a project has a “good community”. I want to know what the average crypto investor actually thinks about these kind of statements. Do they influence you in regards to buying into a project?

What does a “community” mean?

From my perspective this is referring to two separate groups of people and I think this is something people investing really need to grasp. You have the following:

• investor community
• dev community

The investor community is the bulk of this sub. We contribute to projects through staking and providing security to the networks. We also are 95% in it for the money, and 5% for the tech… if we’re being generous. This “community” of people are in the end taking money from themselves. I sell my share, you buy it. You sell your share, I buy it. All in hopes of that sweet sweet early retirement we all crave so desperately. In the end it boils down to this, A good investor community is one making money, a bad community is one losing money (usually blame the devs).

The dev community, is of course the group of people who are building the project. The code writers. This is where “community” matters because it is better defined as a shared workplace. They all have to work together to ensure their project has the most potential to pay them back for all of their work. The relationships here are key because they can lead to awesome advances, or destroy a project. Just like any other workplace, these people need to see eye to eye and professionally approach disagreements in order to better develop whatever project they work on.

I think the term “community” is thrown around way too much by shills and I’d like to hear other people’s thoughts on this. And really there is much more to discuss because there are dynamics between the investor and dev community of a project too.
