Im asking this question as I see many comments on this sub of users saying they hold a large portion of their entire portfolio in bitcoin. I am too a bitcoin believer, but I stumbled across this question yesterday. Obviously bitcoin is far superior to all other forms of currency/value preservation, but that does not automatically make the price of bitcoin go up, what every single investor is looking forward to.
In a scenario where nations unite to ban bitcoin (I know it cannot really be banned as it keeps existing), the demand might decrease if huge penalties are imposed on bitcoin related actions. And nations and central banks do have a HUGE incentive to try this, as they would have to give up power.
A hardfork splitting up the community of bitcoiners, leading to uncertainties for investors.
Whatever scenario, it is safe to say that bitcoins future looks very bright, but there is no 100% certainty that demand will increase. Of course these scenarios are most likely not going to happen, but I personally hesitate to put everything into bitcoin.
I believe in the perfect technology, but to succeed, the intelligence of mankind is needed and thats what I have doubts about.
