Everyone by now must have heard about not your keys, not your crypto.
The statement is true in the sense that if you use a custodian to keep your keys secure you are basically placing trust in them to not just yoink your Crypto and or have really good security themselves as they are a prime target for exploitation.
The only con of self custody is that you are completely responsible for your keys and if u lose them you can’t just hit forgot password to get back in your wallet so you ABSOLUTELY need to keep you keys secure and not lose them else you essentially lose all your Crypto!!!
Self custody will and has saved people from losing everything they had especially when giant exchanges everyone thought were safe and too big to fail went down!!!
TLDR: Self Custody better and you only have to not lose your keys to have zero cons!!!!
