Long time crypto-head here, mining and buying since 2013, but still unfortunately not rich nor anywhere near a millionaire from what you might expect from a crypto og.
I remember first hearing about Bitcoin back in it's early years, from a colleague of mine who brought my attention to this new "internet currency".
Beans was pretty popular years and years ago if anyone remembers that (you're showing your age though if you do), so talk of a new internet currency made me instantly think of that.
I was shown a Windows app where you could mine Bitcoin, but after playing with it for half an hour, I soon forgot about it. After all, you'd have to leave your PC mining for weeks if not months in order to get just 1000 or even 10,000 bitcoins. Crazy!
Fast forward a couple of years, and my same friend said "Hey, remember that Bitcoin, well they're now worth $100 each!
My interest was peaked, but I regrettably I thought I'd missed the boat. Surely Bitcoin couldn't go up even more?
So at this point I decided to buy a few Litecoin instead, as it was the "silver to Bitcoin's gold". Over the next year or so I became pretty engrossed in the whole crypto scene, and bought, mined and traded a bunch of different coins on exchanges such as BTC-e and Cryptsy.
Then I started buying graphics cards to mine a combination of Litecoin and then later Dogecoin.
I always thought Litecoin was destined to stay 2nd to Bitcoin, and up until the last few years, it wasn't far off.
So I've got Litecoin to thank for getting me into all this and causing me to become a first rate degen.
What was the coin that you into crypto?
