As the title suggests, similar to what happened to FTX (everyone withdrew their money and they couldn’t cover everyone 1:1) could this happen with our central banks? And if so, what would happen? Here in Canada banks are insured by the CDIC up to 100k per account, could they cover that though for everyone? What about the US?
Are central banks allowed to run on fractional reserves still? I’ve tried looking into it, but can’t find many answers online for some reason, maybe I’m using the wrong search terms ????♂️
Hoping for a good discussion on the subject. ☕️
