What's a reasonable transfer fee to wait on right now?

I'm an NFT skeptic who wanted to go through the process of making some art and putting it up for sale on opensea. With the goal of better understanding what it's like to buy and sell them (thinking I could just experiment with a couple bucks).

I created a coin base wallet, but when I went to post an NFT for sale, my wallet told me the transfer fee was going to be $200 bucks.

I considered putting the lowest custom option (about $2), but I'm concerned such a low ball will never be picked up.

Is the wallet part of the problem?

Is this the reality of Etherium? I didn't think it'd be so expensive.

If I want it the transfer to get picked up some time in the next week or month, does anyone have advice for how much I should attach to the transfer?

(also if anyone has a tldr link for gas and gwei, etc. I have a basic understanding of bitcoin, so I'm making some assumptions perhaps I shouldn't be).
