What’s a safe place to store your crypto after the whole ledger debacle?

I feel like I need to move my assets to a new wallet since I’ve picked up Ledger is no longer a safe option.. I’m looking for alternatives for long term safekeeping. So my question to the community: what are the safest places to store your crypto/seed phrases?

I used to keep parts of my assets on various exchanges and the parts that I planned for longterm holding on a hardware wallet (ledger), but I am really wondering what the best option would be for longterm holding these days. Is it still relatively safe to keep it on my ledger as long as I don’t touch it and just store it in a physical safe? Or is it possible for my seed phrase to be leaked to the internet nevertheless?

What other options are there? A paper wallet perhaps? Trezor? Or is a hot wallet such as metamask fine for long term holding?

I’ve been out of it for quite some time and could really use some help. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
