Everybody who invests, unless you’re extremely lucky, has had their version of “rock bottom”.
That morning when you wake up, look at your phone, and feel like throwing up. That moment when you realize “wow, I fucked up”.
My first crypto cycle was the first time I had that moment. I started my investing journey in crypto with zero experience in any other markets. One morning I woke up and saw 15k disappear. I’ll never forget that.
At that time in life, that was a lot of money to me. I grew up very poor and that was about half of the money I had to my name. I felt sick to my stomach, I couldn’t stop thinking how badly I messed up. The rest of the day was a blur.
I don’t have any crazy stories about how I spiralled out of control and lost everything, I just buckled in, continued the ride down, and stopped looking at the charts. I just assumed it wasn’t coming back and lived with the loss. Eventually, it came back.
That single moment changed my entire investing strategy going forward and taught me the most valuable lesson.
“Do not invest more than you can afford to lose”
What was your rock bottom moment and what did you learn from it?
