Why downvoting spam has a significant effect on moon distribution

I’ve seen so many good posts stuck at 0 votes with 29-30% upvotes, i vote them up (if i like the content, as always) but they will still be stuck at 0 because of the downvote storm being unleashed on every post as soon as it starts, while the umpteenth reminder on saving your seed phrase or to not FOMO or DCA goes up to the hot section. Very rarely on this sub the upvotes in general weigh the utility of a post, but the real problem is that non repetitive or simply original posts many times get stuck in 0-10 upvotes limbo and will never reach hot. The few who manage to get 100-200 upvotes around the first hour will get in hot section and most probably stick up there for a day or two.

So it is not a simple mathematical equation as many have posted here during these last two weeks, you won’t just miss out on your 10-20 upvotes but you’ll most surely lose a chance to get into the hot section, and hence lose way more than just a bunch of karma. The first interactions are super important to decide if a post may reach hot section.

TL;DR Downvoting bots/apes do not want to subtract you from a few upvotes, they want to bury your post into oblivion and suppress any chance of it reaching a wider audience, while theirs will prolly have a better chance of achieving it. So it is not a simple addition and subtraction calc, but way more sneaky that it appears on the surface.
