Why is making money easier psychologically than protecting it?

I’ve noticed something interesting in my own trading.
When an account is small, it’s easy to imagine turning it into something much larger.
But after taking a loss, the mindset changes completely. You start thinking about recovering the money instead of following the strategy.
I wonder how many traders have experienced the same thing.
