In the video linked below it is explained why bitcoin system is not a payment system but messaging system similar to SMS or Viber. It is also explained that bitcoin is not money but a message, a numeric message. Finally, it is explained that bitcoin wallet is not a wallet but a messaging application. That's because bitcoin system doesn't transfer ownership rights on some type of property, like payment systems do. But it only transfers data. So bitcoin system is like when a girlfriend sends you an SMS message: “Thank you for the gift". She didn't transfer ownership rights. Just data in the form of letters. Bitcoin system sends numbers instead of letters, after you transfer your ownership of property to someone for free. The bigger the gift you give the bigger the number you receive. Here are the details: https://youtu.be/AUvPzegOuZA
I think the assumption that immaterial things (eg, bitcoin, data) are not 'property' is incorrect. For example, the entire field of intellectual property law would suggest that other forms of property exist, beyond the immediately physical world we find ourselves in.
