Why Reddit expanding Reddit Community Points would be Bullish for Moons and wouldn't mean much to the other subs getting their own tokens.

With Reddit killing it's award system September 12th, and a replacement to be announced - I wanted to look at what it would mean for Moons if Reddit announced they were expanding the Reddit Community Point (RCP) system

If Reddit expanded the RCP system - it would no longer be just a few subs earning Crypto it would be pretty much all of Reddit earning unique tokens for participation, most of these would have no value outside of Reddit. You can already see this play out with tokens like Donuts and Bricks, which have limited secondary value - and most members in the respective sub don't really care about them as a Crypto token they can earn.

Now multiply that apathy by 3,000 different RCP, and you'll see the majority of Community Tokens will be worthless. Here's why:

• Liquidity: The Majority of these tokens will have no to very little liquidity options and as such will have almost no secondary value. The few that have liquidity will likely be tied only to other RCP tokens. (e.g. Bricks and Moons)
  • We can already see this taking place with only 3 RCPs when we look at Bricks.
    • In total about $12K is locked in Brick Liquidity provided mostly by users in this sub with half of that in a Moon/Brick pool. Now imagine 3,000 separate RCP most with no liquidity meaning no secondary value.
• The Moon Community have been building and growing over the last three years. ccmoons.com by mod /u/ominous_anenome is a great example of this as is the Sushi Liquidity Pool being community funded.
• Other sub mods not knowing how to check blockchain tech would make it harder to prevent bad actors attempting to game any tokens that have limited value.

Moons are in a really unique position, as one of the biggest community tokens for a generic CryptoCurrency subreddit being built and developed by a community that cares about it and wants to see it succeed. If other subs get RCPs the majority of them will be worthless simply from lack of liquidity and Moons will remain the posterchild for RCPs - which is an incredibly bullish feat.

RCPs expanding likely won't create value for other subs but the news and media attention generated could create value for the posterchild of RCPs - Moons.
