I want to run a node. For convenience sake, I would like to do it on my desktop which I use everyday. To mitigate risk, I do not plan to use it as a wallet as I own a Trezor already and feel more comfortable with it. Will running a node with an empty wallet matter to the network or not? Is it safe to run it on my PC? I do have an old laptop I don't use but that would be worst case scenario as it would be less convenient for me.
I've read in a comment somewhere that "unused" nodes didn't have a say about updates etc and that lead me to believe I needed to use it as a wallet for it to matter. Was this a misconception?
