There's a fascinating section of Lex Fridman's conversation with Charles Hoskinson where Charles points out that the US army have released a paper on coding stylometry, stating they were able to successfully identify an anonymous publisher of code with a 94% accuracy.
Stylometry is the practice of analysing how a text is written, using the idiosyncrasies contained within it to unmask pseudonymous or anonymous authors and apparently this can now be applied to how sections of code have been written.
I know stylometry has been used in the past in an attempt to work out who Satoshi is based on his writing style, but maybe this actually will be the key. You can only imagine with the rapid innovation happening in the AI world now, eventually someone will be able to use one of these systems to search through historical open source coding repo's on the internet and assign a high percentage match of styles.
