More efforts should be made to eliminate this special status, given to people who earn $200k+ per year, or have a net-worth of over $1M. Currently, only they are allowed to privately invest in non-publicly traded companies, and other investments deemed "high-risk". They enjoy significantly better interest rates and returns, that are completely inaccessible to your average "retail" investor.
All this does is make the rich richer. It's a gigantic sham, that ensures that only a relatively small group of people have access to extremely attractive investment opportunities, while the rest of us are stuck buying stock on Robinhood (I'm exaggerating of course, but you get the idea).
Political elements are now trying to make crypto investments only accessible to those "accredited investors" as well.
It's kind of a mystery to me as to why this isn't being addressed in the public arena. Contact your representatives, and push for the elimination of the "accredited investor". Regardless of crypto, it really should never have been a thing in the first place.
