Here's a question I've been pondering lately. Has anyone ever answered the question of whether creating NFTs for digital game sales, skins, and so on would be affordable (not to mention profitable) for companies to pursue?
Let's say Activision sells 10+ million digital copies of Call of Duty in one year. How much time and effort do they have to spend creating 10+ million unique NFTs, and what financial benefit is there for the company's revenue? They're not going to do so out of kindness.
Likewise, skins and unique items. Each of these would take a non-zero amount of time to produce, create an NFT, and link the two together. I'm just not seeing any profit for the company anywhere.
Am I missing something?
ADDENDUM: To clarify the above, I'm having trouble seeing the advantage of the company getting a small percentage of resale. Why not make 100% profit on 500 items instead of 100 on 1 item and 10% on 499 items?
