 | By now i presume most of us would know about the Wall Street Bets drama going on. As a basic preamble:
I must say it's quite ironic as all the way back in 2021, there was a push by a number of sub users to allow cryptocurrency related content on the sub. This was pushed back heavily by mods. And especially since then the sub itself isn't necessary the most crypto positive, as the tend to hug onto their meme stocks more than anything. And now we see them turn around and do a stunt like this. Later On Many users have tried to call out the situation but the mods are running a very aggressive campaign of mass banning users who mention the situation. Posts are also being removed. And might I say, this is the sub that was supposed to stand up for the little guys against big cooporations, and against the whole shady Citadel thing, but they turn around and do their own scheme of robbing the little guys and abusing their power over them. Fast forward to todayThe 3rd WSB mod aka WSBMOD (who doxxed the first two and called for them to return the funds) got in contact with fairly popular crypto influencers/researchers/enthusiasts ZachXBT and Loopify to set up a multi-sig crypto wallet to where the funds could be "refunded". The funds were later refunded and then 3rd mod then did a poll to ask the community if they should buy back the refunded funds. The vote was overwhelmingly yes. Now, if you're confused at this point. It's not just you. Basically, WSB tokens as well as ETH was refunded by the scamming mods. The community voted to buy back the WSB token with the refunded(previously stolen) ETH. This is being done in 50 ETH tranches starting Thursday which (in part) has caused immense volatility in the WSB token price going from $.00005274 on Wednesday to $0.00011507 before the refund to $0.00030374 a few hours after the refund to $0.00012551 now, i.e. cycling through 2-3x changes in price. The thing is, the first two WSB mods who allegedly rugpulled still have their names and addresses doxxed. All the data about their scam is public knowledge. The 3rd mod had not confirmed if they reported to police/FBI, but the mods being doxxed means anyone can now decide to report them to authorities. The WSB sub is still clean and scrubbed from all posts and user who try to out them, likely meaning their ban campaign is still on. And they are still listed as mods. There were also unsubstantiated claims by them that the 3rd mod(who doxxed them) was in on it, but the public list of addresses who received WSB tokens doesn't seem to match up with their claims. It was probably reported/word reached to Reddit admins at this point as well, especially as WSB is one of the largest and most well-known on Reddit. [link] [comments] |
