Zuckerberg lost $70B or just over 50% of his net worth in 1.5 years since the start of pursuit of his Metaverse vision. Meanwhile competitors Decentraland and Sandbox together currently have just over 500 daily users, and prices both falling ~25% in 3M.

Zuckerberg and Meta(Facebook) announced there plans to pursue a Metaverse vision in 2021. Reports state unofficial allusions to it as far back May 2021 with an official announcement coming around October. His net worth around there stood at about 130 - 140 Billion. In the the 1.5 years since October, he has lost around 70 Billion of this which is around 51% of his net worth at the time., falling several places down the Forbes list.

Zuck's metaverse ambitions have shrunk significantly, with the company laying off 10,000 staff orienting themselves to AI with the CEO saying, AI is being built "into every one of our products."

It may have been a good idea as even Decentraland and the Sandbox only hit just over 500 daily users per DappRadar.
