Most of us will readily admit that we are here for the moons. However, regardless of what motivates us, the very fact that we are here posting and commenting helps this sub to grow.
I have only been here for six months, so I was struck by how more seasoned users name-dropped articles in their comments. More impressively, it seemed that other people were familiar with these articles as the threads just continued seamlessly. So there was this infamous post titled “Incesting” that you all liked to laugh at. There was another post in which the creator copied and pasted the top comments to his previous post. There was this sense of familiarity that was shared that I was not privy to. I felt like an outsider peeking in.
Lest I get too melodramatic, I will like to share three posts that got me excited and captured my attention in my lifespan here. And nope, I didn’t choose the one about moons moving to mainnet because that would be taking the easy way out.
1) Everyone Here is Seriously Missing Out on The Wonderful World of DeFi and Web3
If you think that crypto is mainly about buying tokens on an exchange and sending them to your cold wallet, this post will open up your mind. The Redditor gave tons of examples in regards to DeFi projects such as Curve and AAVE flash loans - with images to boot. Get introduced to the world of leveraged yield farming and liquidity providing, among others. The only thing not mentioned is how you should calibrate all these options against your risk appetite. Degen if crypto is a casino to you; stay away if you don’t have the stomach for degeneracy. Everyone seemed to get something out of this post. 4.1 upvotes speak for themselves.
2) 30% Tax on Income from cryptocurrencies in India…that’s so Freaking High. How much tax is fair?
This post didn’t get as many upvotes as the first, but I was glad to lurk around in it. Coming from a country with no capital gains tax, I sure learnt to be appreciative for my circumstances. On the surface, this seemed to be a post about taxes in India. However, Redditors soon elevated its interest value by sharing the capital gains tax in their country and even how they were impacted as a result. It was amazing to hear so many nationalities opine on taxes in one thread. This sub sometimes exemplifies what it means to be a global village. That our enthusiasm for crypto (and hatred for taxes) transcends physical national boundaries!
I know not everyone is into faucets as they can be seen to be a waste of time - giving you measly drops of a crypto in exchange for your priceless time. Still, it was a post that galvanised me into action. It was the avenue where I got to learn about the existence of a faucet for moons - and boy, was I excited. The Moons faucet seems to have been inactive ever since moons got migrated to the mainnet. Nonetheless, I have many fond memories of using it, particularly when I got 0.0699999999 moons and just had to share the happy news in the Daily Discussion. This was also a thread in which I learnt about how to be cautious in the crypto space. Some posters advised about using an empty wallet to receive these drips of crypto as a security precaution. Point taken!
These are three posts that have made the most impact on me so far. Really happy to build a sense of community and camaraderie with everyone here. What are similar posts that made you feel involved and even belonged?
