I collected alternatives to popular web2 apps hoping to make the transition easier. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but a list of web3 protocols I found useful. You are probably familiar with some of these, but I think most will find at least a few new platforms to check out. Chrome -> BraveBrave is an open-source web browser based on Chromium. Brave comes with a pre-installed Ethereum-compatible wallet and pays rewards on BAT to users for the ads served on the new tab page. Brave is also capable of resolving Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains. GoDaddy -> ENSEthereum Name Service (ENS) is the protocol for .eth names. These are decentralized names that can be used for wallets and even websites. ENS are NFTs that belong to their owner and cannot be taken down by any centralized entity. Zapier -> ChainJetChainJet is an open-source and decentralized platform for building on-chain or off-chain task automations without coding custom solutions. Users can simply create workflows connecting multiple apps together. ChainJet offers both Web2 and Web3 integrations. WhatsApp -> StatusStatus is a secure messaging app, crypto wallet, and Web3 browser. Status is completely open-source, and it's private and secure by design. YouTube -> OdyseeOdysee is a video-sharing platform running on the LBRY blockchain. Odysee has gained popularity and has over 25 million monthly visits. Creators are paid on LBRY tokens, and even users are paid for doing different actions on the platform. YouTube -> LenstubeLenstube is a new decentralized video-sharing platform built on the Lens Protocol, which runs on the Polygon Network. On Lenstube, all your follows, followers and uploads belong to you and are sent to your wallet. Anyone can create a new version of Lenstube leveraging the existing user base. Twitter -> LensterLenster is a decentralized and permissionless social network built on the Lens Protocol. The platform is gasless, and the post content, image, and/or video are stored on Arweave. Twitter -> PhaverPhaver is a share-to-earn decentralized social platform powered by the Lens Protocol. Phaver is currently mobile-only, with apps for iOS and Android. Medium -> MirrorMirror is a fully-featured decentralized publishing platform pushing the boundaries of online writing. Mirror enables creators to earn for their content by turning publications into NFTs or crowdfunding ideas. Dropbox -> FilecoinFilecoin is an open-source storage platform that stores information on a decentralized network. Filecoin supports from small chunks of data to large files. Dropbox -> ArweaveArweave is a decentralized platform to store files permanently. It is a new type of storage that backs data with sustainable and perpetual endowments, allowing users to store data forever. [link] [comments] |
