I don’t believe there are currently third-party Reddit apps that claim to include a crypto wallet within them, but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking this won’t happen. And soon.
There are tons of ways to use Reddit besides the official app, especially on mobile. These apps have built a lot of trust behind them so I can see scenarios of a popular third-party app now including a crypto wallet after a new update. However, I think we need to be very careful where we import our seeds.
If a non-official Reddit app asks you to import your seed, DON’T DO IT. It’s not worth the risk. Doesn’t matter if they somehow figured out how to show your assets in a nicer way. You just don’t know the security considerations these app developers have taken. They don’t have to be malicious to mishandle your vault.
If you need to import your seed somewhere besides the official Reddit app, consider wallet softwares that are battle-tested and are reputable in the crypto space. Such as Metamask, Coinbase Wallet and Trust Wallet.
