Bitcoin Mining just for the experience...

Bitcoin Reddit

If a person wanted to attempt to mine bitcoin, and they didn't care about making a profit, about how much would you have to spend (in USD or in Euro) to get the minimal ASIC equipment necessary to actually have a legitimate chance to mine some bitcoin annually (likely as part of a mining pool because I understand that going solo and getting a block reward would be like winning the lottery) and what would be the amount of electricity needed to run that equipment per month?

Obviously I'm new to this so feel free to help me refine my noob questions.
