The other day I sent someone some bitcoin as I owed them some, (yes, I know bitcoin's in a little shithole right now) but they're claiming that, even though I sent them $71 USD, they only received $41. They were saying this happened because bitcoin goes up and down in price, but, even though I'm somewhat new in the world of cryptocurrency, I figured that this: 1. Wouldn't typically occur so quickly, and 2. The amount of bitcoin that was sent would change if the price changed. The transaction was complete within a 10 minute period, so I really think that the recipient could be lying. Is there any other factors that could have affected the amount sent versus the amount received, or is the recipient just trying to rip me off?
